Speak American!

Off the Cuff Comment:
I have a comment about all the Spanish and French instructions on packages that I buy. When I made a phone call it asked me if I want English or Spanish. If you go to France you have to speak French. If you go to Germany you have to speak German. If you go to Mexico you have to speak Mexican. This is America, it is English language.

My Comment:
This person's lack of knowledge about language, much less a global economy, speaks for itself.

Old Naked Men For Sale

Off the Cuff Comment:
People who are calling in and criticizing the Green Country Garden Club for their calendar - saying that it is off color and what not - just must have dirty minds. I have checked and verified that the guys had pants on and they are not showing any more than they would if they were out in their yard mowing their lawn. A lot of guys take their shirts off to mow the lawn. So let's get real and take the calendar as it was presented, in fun. With all of the world crisis' we need to lighten up and see some fun things that people are doing instead of being so uptight.

My Comment:
I have to agree with this caller, who cares if old men want to prance around naked in a fundraising calendar. If you don't like it, don't look at it. I just can't figure out how she checked and then verified that these guys had pants on? Was she there or did she call each one of them personally to ask about their underpants?

The Tulsa news did a fluff piece on the "calendar guys" if you want to see what all the hoopla is about: http://www.greencountrygardenclub.com/2006pinuptv.htm

Dead Gray Cat

Off the Cuff Comment:
Would Animal Control please pick up the dead gray cat that has been lying on the east side of the road on the grass side just south of the Green Country Road on Washington Blvd? That poor animal has been there since before the snow last week.

My Comment:
The appropriate way to get dead animals off the road is to call animal control directly; the number can be found in the phone book. Ranting about it in the paper is highly inefficient and a waste of Off the Cuff space.

Multi-tasking

Off the Cuff Comment:
Okay ladies - and you know who you are - quit driving with your cell phones up to your ears, applying makeup, eating doughnuts and tuning in the radio all at the same time. Drive that car right or get it off the road.

My Comment:
Where exactly does this caller put his cell phone?

Let's just celebrate Festivus

Off the Cuff Comment:
Bartlesville, we need to take Christmas back. I am tired of Happy Holidays, I am tired of this nonsense. Let's go back to Norman Rockwell days, let's take Christmas back. We are a Christian town. Let' s do it. Let's get people to sign petitions.

My Comment:
After years of people wishing 'Happy Holidays' the insensitive, overzealous, religious right quacks want us to wish people 'Merry Christmas'. It's good to see Bartlesville is helping lead the way in this cause against the religious minority.

Bethlehem, Again

Off the Cuff Comment:
I want to sincerely thank the First Baptist Church for their wonderful exhibit of the Bethlehem village. Everyone from the beggar, to the angels, to the Roman guards presented an entertainment experience for the Bartlesville citizens who came to pay their taxes. The whole village was awesome and if Bartlesville had an excellence award, you would win it. And last but not least, the cookies and hot cider were great.

My Comment:
Ah but Bartlesville does have an excellence award. If you look at the 2005 results, obviously they left out a category....the Best Outdoor Live Nativity Reenactment Category.

Clinton the Womanizer

Off the Cuff Comment:
Is see in the newspaper the question, “Is Bush the worst president ever?” I have to answer to that, Heavens no! If a person lives in a country that has had Bill Clinton as president, there is the worst one. He is a womanizer, a liar, and anything else that you can think of that is not favorable.

My Comment:
Yet his poll numbers were almost twice as high as Bush's and the rest of the world doesn't view him as an idiot, but an ambassador of peace.

Bethlehem

Off the Cuff Comment:
I went to see the Bethlehem bazzar (Bartlesville in Bethlehem) at the First Baptist Church and it was great. The people have gone through so much trouble. I really received a blessing. But please dress warmly, it is outside.

My Comment:
A manger scene is outside! How unoriginal! I am also pretty sure it's Bethlehem in Bartlesville, not the other way around. Then again, maybe they have a portal to Bethlehem where you can go and watch people eat at Chilis...
