In the state of Oklahoma there is a law that requires people to have a permit to hunt, and in order to obtain that permit you must first complete a gun safety class. The thought has occurred to me that rather than banning pit bulls in this state, maybe you should be required to have a permit to own one, and a class on responsible pet ownership should be required to obtain it. There are plenty of us who own pit bulls who are responsible and love our dogs and would be willing to take the necessary steps to be able to keep our beloved pets, and to help weed out those irresponsible idiots who give us a bad name, and most importantly, who endanger our community with their ignorance of how to raise their own dogs.
